You, Bronco Fan, probably have concerns that the Bills - losers in seven of their past eight games - could deal the Broncos an upset loss at Invesco Field at Mile High on Sunday.

You're concerned that the San Diego Chargers will beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. That would set up a Broncos-Chargers showdown in San Diego on Dec. 28 for the AFC West championship.

Enough to make your stomach turn, eh?

If it means anything, there is some karma favoring the Broncos this weekend. The Bills haven't won a game played in Denver since 1967. Mike Shanahan's first regular-season win as Broncos head coach came in the 1995 season opener, played at Mile High Stadium against the Bills, whose defensive coordinator that season was Wade Phillips.

And if there is such a blue-and-orange irony, the Broncos could have the AFC West title before kickoff against the Bills - with help from Brian Griese leading the Bucs to a win over San Diego. . . .

When teams win, we say sacks are overrated. But when the Broncos lose 30-10 to Carolina, you can point out that the Panthers recorded three sacks to none for the Broncos. Denver's defense has produced only three sacks in the past six games - a string of 181 pass attempts. . . .

For the first time since 1968, the Broncos have allowed 30 or more points in seven games, with a 3-4 record in those games. . . .

The Bills, who started the season 5-1, average 25 points a game on the road. . . .

People snickered when I suggested signing free agent running back Shaun Alexander much earlier in the season. You'd probably take him right now in the Broncos' depleted backfield. . . .

The Bills will be the fourth AFC East team to play in Denver during the month of December since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. The New England Patriots (four times), Baltimore Colts (once) and Miami Dolphins (once) are the others. The Broncos have gone 6-0 in those games.
