They pick 'em
Current and former NFL players from the Grand Rapids area offer their annual picks.

Cardinals 27, Steelers 23

"I like the Cardinals because they're hungrier and they're due. Look for the weather in Tampa to play in their favor as well."

Curt Anes, of Kentwood, former NCAA Division II All-America quarterback at Grand Valley State University, who went to training camp with the Detroit Lions in 2003 and '04.

Cardinals 34, Steelers 17

"I think Arizona is that hot team like New York was last year. The Cardinals have reinvented themselves with the running game, Kurt Warner is going to be the best quarterback on the field and their defense has been playing really well."

Ray Bentley, of Hudsonville, former Buffalo Bills (1986-91) and Cincinnati Bengals (1992) linebacker, who played for the Bills in Super Bowls XXV and XXVI.

Steelers 28, Cardinals 24

"The Steelers have the better defense and Troy Polamalu should get a couple of picks on Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner. It should be a good game."

David Brandt, of Jenison, former Washington (2001-02) and San Diego Chargers (2003-04) offensive lineman.

Cardinals 35, Steelers 31

"I'm going with the upset. There's going to be a lot of offense in this game."

Carlton Brewster, of Grand Rapids, former Green Bay Packers (2006), San Diego Chargers (2007) and Denver Broncos (2007) practice-squad wide receiver and kick returner.

Cardinals 31, Steelers 17

"I just think the Cardinals have too much firepower offensively. Their offense has been putting up some impressive numbers in the playoffs."

Kelly Butler, of Grand Rapids, former Detroit Lions (2004-05) and Cleveland Browns (2006-07) right tackle.

Steelers 27, Cardinals 17

"Toward the end of the season and in the playoffs, Pittsburgh has showed it is truly the best team. They're too good offensively, defensively and special teams."

Ty Hallock, of Greenville, former Detroit Lions (1993-95), Jacksonville Jaguars ('96-97) and Chicago Bears ('98-2000) fullback and linebacker.

Cardinals 24, Steelers 17

"I've got former Michigan teammates on both the Steelers (LaMarr Woodley) and the Cardinals (Steve Breaston, Alan Branch, Victor Hobson, Gabe Watson). I'll pick the Cardinals because I think they'll outscore Pittsburgh's offense."

David Harris, of Grand Rapids, New York Jets starting middle linebacker and 2007 NFL second-round draft choice (47th overall) out of Michigan.

Cardinals 33, Steelers 31

"You gotta ROOT for the underdog. I like Pittsburgh, but I think Arizona is just on a roll right now."

Kevin Haverdink, of Hamilton, former New Orleans Saints (1989-92) offensive tackle.

Steelers 20, Cardinals 10

"I don't think the glass slipper is going to fit any longer against that Pittsburgh defense."

Mitch Lyons, of Forest Hills, former Atlanta Falcons (1993-96) and Pittsburgh Steelers ('97-99) tight end.

Steelers 28, Cardinals 24

"It's a matter of Pittsburgh blitzing and getting to Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner."

Jay Riemersma, of Zeeland, former Buffalo Bills (1996-2002) and Pittsburgh Steelers (2003-04) tight end.

Steelers 27, Cardinals 24

"I grew up a big Steelers fan and my dad's from Pittsburgh. I get an opportunity to buy a pair of Super Bowl tickets from the NFL, so I'm taking my dad to the game this year."

Joe Staley, of Rockford, San Francisco 49ers starting right tackle and 2007 NFL first-round draft choice (28th overall) out of Central Michigan.
